Post by Big brother Fri Jun 05, 2009 10:12 pm

The idioms are very important parts of speech , because they allow the user of language to develop the language, and this my first idiom:

the idiom:Don't ask Tina to keep a secret: she's a real bigmouth .

funtion: (= someone who talks a lot and is unable tokeep anything secret). We can also say a blabbermouth.

what's yours?!!!!!!!!!

a little bird told me
If someone doesn't want to say where they got some information from, he can say that a little bird told him.
If you will
'If you will' is used as a way of making a concession in a sentence: He wasn't a very honest person, a liar if you will. Here, it is used a way of accepting that the reader or listener might think of the person as a liar, but without commit the writer or speaker to that position fully.

Be/do something for one's sins.

Example: Q: "Are you a historian?"
A: "Yes,for my sins!"

To be or to do something for your sins means that you consider it as a punishment.
